How to get involved @ RFK Camp #286

There Are Four Ways To Get Involved

1. Full Week Camp Staff: Camp is Monday -Friday (5 days, 4 nights). Each camp staff is made up of volunteers who give of themselves each summer to invest in the lives of hurting children. Volunteers must be 18 or older and have a heart for sharing God’s love with hurting kids. Specific jobs include Nurse, Counselor, Cabin support, Drama team, Den mom’s, and various activity support positions, leading music, taking photos or video, setting up crafts and activities, leading group games, fishing, woodworking, providing extra help at swimming, and participating in the drama……

What do we look for in a full week staff?

Energy, patience, love, willingness to look beyond your own needs (servant’s heart), flexibility, to be a self-starter and hard worker as you look for opportunities to contribute and encourage others throughout the week in order to wholeheartedly serve the children and fellow staff at Camp.

  •  If interested in this role it requires mandated training,
    • Friday, 5/17 6p-9p @ Northridge
    • Saturday, 5/18 8:30a – 4:30p @Northridge
    • Sunday 6/23 2-5pm @ campground

2. Event Staff: We have various events related to camp and they require additional support beyond the week long staff. This is a great opportunity for those who might want to get their feet wet before committing to a full week or may only be able to set aside a few hours to help.

  • Camper Check in Monday morning: Help welcome the campers and help them get ready for camp
    • 2hr commitment (approximately 7am-9am)
  • Birthday Party Wednesday afternoon @ campground: We celebrate every kids Birthday
    • 6hr commitment (approximately 1-7pm)
  • Check Out Friday afternoon. Help the kids transition back from camp and support pick up activities
    • 3hr commitment (approximately 2-5pm)
  • Carnival Friday afternoon during Check out: Help the kids transition back from camp by manning one of several carnival activities.
    • 3hr commitment (approximately 2-5pm)
  • Welcome back Dinner: We have a dinner for all staff that supported the week and need help to serve the meal
    • 3-4hr commitment (approximately 3-7pm)

All event staff must attend attend training Friday, 5/17 6p-9p @ Northridge

3. Help raise funds. The camp and mentoring Club program costs approximately $45,000 each year.  So we need a variety of donations. New clothes for the Son Shine Shop, materials to make hand made quilts….  To give financially, you can also visit our donations page.

4. Pray: Become a prayer partner and pray for the children and all the staff. To be part of the Royal Family Prayer Team, please send us an email

Application Process: Check back in Jan 2019

Camp Counselor

Each counselor will be responsible for two campers in order to provide the very best care for our campers. Every counselor must be willing to spend an entire week (M-F) at camp and attend 15 hours of training. While the counselor is the primary contact, you are not alone as each counselor is paired with a co-counselor as well as additional support staff. 24 counselors= 48 kids that can go to camp

Co-Counselor and Support Staff

We need you! We need roughly an additional 50-70 support staff. This includes; co-counselors, Nurses, Photographers, Grandma/Grandpa, Coaches, Activity coordinators, Drama team, SonShine Shop support, Life guards, Intervention team, Wood working and many more……
