Camp – Mentoring – Club Royal Family KIDS provides a life changing experience available to foster care children, ages 7-11, at no cost to the foster parents or the State of Michigan.
Each camper will have the opportunity to uncover, discover and develop their self worth, talents and abilities that will foster a successful future.
Where do the children come from? Plymouth Royal Family KIDS coordinates with public and private foster care agencies in Southeastern Michigan. 7-11 year-old children in the foster care system are invited to a week of Summer Camp and a Club and Mentoring program during the school year.
How are children supervised? Plymouth Royal Family KIDS Camp has a camper to counselor ratio of 2:1 with 20 or more additional support staff. Children are always accompanied by at least two adults and never left unsupervised. The volunteer staff team includes a doctor, nurses, psychologist, certified lifeguards and many other trained individuals. All volunteers have a background check and are required to attend a minimum of 15 hours of training.
What do children experience at camp? Activities at Plymouth Royal Family KIDS are purposefully designed to be non-competitive, non-threatening and allow children to experience success. Each fun-filled day includes: Swimming Fishing Basketball Non-competitive sports Bible stories Drama Singing Birthday Party, Carnival Activities centers such as crafts, woodworking, games, dress up, face painting and more.
What children are eligible for camp? Children must be ages 7-11. Foster children automatically qualify. An official camp application must be submitted. It should be noted that due to overwhelming need, not all children applying can be accepted. Approximately 40-48 children will attend our camp.
